Opening Night of "15 Shots in the Hood" Exhibition

A sample of the gallery's great hanging strategies.

VILLARTE Board Members and Artists talking up the show.

Artists: Adriana Baltazar, Maria Gaspar and an unknown cohort plotting the future of the VILLARTE Galley Space.

On Saturday, August 15
th, the VILLARTE Gallery Space hosted our second show at our space at 3348-A West 25th Street with an excellent Artist Talk that kicked off the night!

Exhibiting Artists: Analia Rodriguez, Charly Lopez, Marissa Ochoa, Adriana Baltazar, Diane Green, Guadalupe Lopez, Rosy Torres, Heather Ana Hathaway Miranda, Anthony Marcos Rea and Henry Cervantes

Each artist explored the show’s title of “15 Shots in the Hood” in their own personal way from the perspective of street vendors, empty lots and street festivals, personal journey’s through the neighborhood and storefront window scenes. It was a great night with plenty of people, good conversation and a lot of work from each artist.

VILLARTE will soon post Gallery Hours that will be open to the public but in the meantime, enjoy a few pics from the “15 Shots in the Hood” exhibition!

See you soon!

15 Shots in the Hood

The VILLARTE Gallery Space presents:
“15 Shots in the Hood”

VILLARTE’s 2nd show in our gallery space on 25th Street will feature the work of 8 artists exploring the possibilities of what 15 photographic shots in the hood can become. Artist were asked to make 15 shots within a weeks time period as a study of the community as subject, motivation, inspiration or point of departure. Our goal is to look at the ways artists are creating within the Little Village /South Lawndale communities.

Please join us this Saturday, August 15th, 2009 from 5pm-6:30pm for a lively discussion on this process. You can meet the artists and maybe take 15 shots yourself.

Beginning at 6:30pm-9pm will be the official opening of this exciting show!
